Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for… (Goodreads)

Let's make something real clear. I adore Jennifer Armentrout's books just as much as the next reader. Their entertainment value is priceless and every book I read only makes me love them more. That said, Wait for You wasn't my favorite of her books (Onyx still holds that title), but I did really enjoy it nonetheless. I mean, it was predictable, but how many unpredictable romances have you read lately? Not many, I can guess.

Avery was a pretty good main character. Yes, she was annoying at times, as all young/new adult females are, but that's what gives them their realistic edge. She was funny and sarcastic, but a little too anxious about everything. I know, I know. There's a reason for that, one I figured out WAY before it was revealed. I'm hoping that was the point because it was very obvious what had happened to Avery even before I was halfway finished with the story.

Cameron was hot, hot stuff, but I just wasn't SOLD on him. Hmm. How do I explain this? Cam wasn't special, he was just...cool. He was sexy, yes, he was sweet and thoughtful, yes. I thought it was too cute that kept asking Avery out despite being assured that she would say no (And she did. Only about a million times). But Cam didn't grab me. I didn't fall for him. I liked him though. I really did. He was just what Avery needed in her life and I felt he handled her past with maturity. He had a secret of his own, but to me, it was a bit underwhelming. I mean, I wasn't like OMG when it was revealed. I just really loved the romance between these two characters and that's what really drove the story and kept me intrigued throughout. It was passionate and deep, and just downright darling at times.

Jacob was my ultimate favorite character. Everything he said was a RIOT. I laughed so hard sometimes that my sides hurt. Brittany was also a great character that was like the "joke sidekick" to Jacob's foolishness.

This book needed better editing. I expect better from JLA and have to mention it. There were spelling and grammar errors galore and I couldn't let that slide under my radar. JLA is one of the big dogs so no excuses for her! This only distracted a little bit from my reading experience, but it was one of the reasons I couldn't give this book a higher rating.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read with quite a few laughs, great romance, and intriguing banter. Most hearts will melt for Cam and feel for Avery. I'm pretty excited for the next book in the series, Be With Me. The ending kind of hints at who it's going to be about, but JLA could just be pulling my leg. You know how she do.

Favorite Quote

"Girl, you got competition." Jacob folded his arms on the table. "That's Sally and Susan–beta, delta, boogie-sigma-chi-latte-VPs."

Brit's brows lowered. "That's not even close to a sorority name."

"Whatever."

  2. I love break out side characters like Jacob. Is it bad that I haven't read a book by Armentrout?

Perhaps I should start with Onyx instead of this one.
