Samantha Bevans is having the best sex of her life—but it's not with her husband. Fortunately for her marriage, the affair is all in her mind. Isn't it? As an empath, she senses other people's emotions. But her connection to the man with the the chiseled face and haunting eyes seems so real.

There's no time for fantasies with a serial killer loose in Pittsburgh. The killer is targeting dancers at a strip club where Samantha used to bartend, back when drugs were the only cure for the torment of her abilities. As a member of a special task force, Samantha uses her talents to sense the victims’ final thoughts. Just when she thought the case was complex enough, she discovers one of the victims was thinking about her fantasy man when she died.

Who can Samantha trust when she can’t trust her own mind? An empath feels the emotional environment around her…and Samantha is surrounded by death. (Goodreads)

I didn't know what to expect from this book, but what I got was a sexy, suspense-filled, kick ass novel that I simply couldn't put down, reminding me why I love paranormal romance so much! It's going to be hard to review this book without totally spoiling it, but I'll try my best.

At first, I didn't know what to make of it. Sam is having an affair, a pretty serious one, with a man in her dreams, which is weird enough on its own. But we weren't kept in nail-biting suspense for too long, as bits and pieces of what the truth behind her dreams really was.

I've never really read a book like this. I loved all of the flashbacks and how most of the story was spent rehashing past events. Most of the time backstory totally ruins a book's flow. But not here. The backstory was what this book was all about and I loved it! You will too, I promise. It was just that interesting.

I really liked Sam's character. She was funny and emotional (duh, she's an empath), but beware, this girl bites! There's a really great scene where she kicks this woman's ass GOOD. I won't say who or why, but it was great and a long time coming. There are two other male characters in this book that I really liked, but I won't say too much about them. But one IS the man in her dreams! Loved him!

As the synopsis says, the murders and her dreams are sort of all connected. But you'll never guess how so it's best just to roll with it. I'm glad this is a trilogy because I so wanted more when I was finished. Grrr! I wish I could write a longer review but if I say what I really want to say then you'll have no reason to go buy it. Just trust me, you won't be disappointed. As far as paranormal romances go, it's one of the best I've read in quite a while!
