Rome is ooh-la-la!

Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .

Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed "bad boy" friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won't let herself get burned again. She's waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He's stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he's returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome's used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he's just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray.Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . . .(Goodreads)

Rome is my favorite of the series so far. Hands down.

Let's start with Cora. Loved this girl! Her spunky attitude, her no bullshit demeanor, her beautiful body art. Just loved it all. Any woman that does what Cora did in the first chapter is a winner in my eyes. Sometimes you just gotta tell these men how shit is gonna go and Cora is the woman to do it! She's the shop manager where the boys tat people up at so she also has to put plenty of females in their place as well. Take the fact that she's tiny on top of that and you've got one bad ass woman!

Then there's Rome Archer. Ahhh, Rome. I didn't like his sexy ass so much at first, but it didn't take long for me to. Once I was kind of given a glimpse into his head, I understood. I'm the daughter of an ex-Colonel so I know about that military life. I know how hard it can be on the soldiers so I was super sympathetic to what he was going through. I have a very soft spot for soldiers. Actually I have two (wink wink).

Rome may have been a bit of an asshole, but deep down, he was nothing but a bunch of marshmallow fluff. He just wanted to be the one people needed again and he felt he had lost his place among those he loved even as they tried to convince him it wasn't true. I think, deep down, Cora kind of needed someone to take care of her and to take care of. They just went so well together. Cora was patient with Rome (he was a hot head just like every other man, especially an Archer man) but she didn't accept his excuses for being a jerk and wallowing in his misery and I loved that. Vice versa, Rome didn't take any mess from Cora either. She had her own issues (mainly, trust) and he didn't let her make him pay for another man's mistakes. Honestly, they were perfect together.

The sex. Lawdy! It was HAWT!! Passionate and dirty, it was everything you would expect from a book like this. I found myself re-reading scenes cuz I'm a freak like that, but it was also because they were written so well. I'm quite tired of reading books where the author breezes over the love scenes and spends a bunch of time on crap we don't care about. This was refreshing and so so sexy!

I loved the plot as well. It was one of learning to trust, learning to forgive, and learning to move on. Both Rome and Cora had to learn all of these lessons. Rome, mainly with his parents, Rule (his brother) and Shaw (Rule's girl). Cora, with her ex-boyfriend, and of course, Rome. But it all comes together in the end and that's really good because they're really going to need each other with what's about to happen in the next book or so. I so wanna spoil it but I don't do that. Just go read this book!

So I wanted to give this book four stars, but then I realized there wasn't anything I didn't like about it, so I had to give it five. What's great about this book is that I read it first, even though it's book 3, and I think it's awesome that I was able to do that. Sure, it was a bit of a spoiler for book one, but I was really okay with that. I suggest reading them in order, but if you don't want to, you don't have to.

Recommend? Hell yes! Go get this book now!

Meet Jay Crownover
I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.

I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
