Sweet and entertaining!

Mountain lion shifters have allied into ten groups called Dares which together form the Shadowcat Nation. A rocky alliance at best, its success is vital to their survival against other species of shifters who threaten their very existence.

Andie Reynolds is being hunted. After witnessing her mother's violent death at the hands of a pack of wolf shifters, Andie has devoted her life to protecting her community of cougar shifters from a similar fate. But now, a greater threat lies within her own dare, and she must run. If she stays, Kyle Carstairs will try to force their Mating, seeking the added power their union would provide.

Andie would rather chew off her own foot than end up with Kyle. Though, knowing him, she won't live long either way. Andie's only hope of survival is to Mate the Alpha of the Keller Dare with which she is seeking asylum. But before she can get to him, Andie must first go through A.J., one of the Alpha's Protectors. The incredibly frustrating shifter insists on challenging her story, her skills, her trust… and her heart.

Andie is running out of options and out of time. But risking the life of someone she loves - just to save herself - goes against every instinct she has. (Goodreads)

Sometimes you come across a book that causes you to breathe a sigh of satisfaction once it's over. This was that book. Though it wasn't the best romance I've ever read (does such a book exist?) I still enjoyed it and am quite interested in the next book in the series.

I liked how Abigail sucked us right into the plot, not wasting time with back story and unnecessary crap like that. It starts off with our most awesome heroine, Andie, breaking into the Keller compound in hopes of snagging a meeting with their Alpha...and taking a trip down the aisle right after. She's on the run from her own dare who want to force her to mate a shifter she despises. And when I say she despises him, I mean it. And he deserves it. Isn't a douchebag alive who deserves it more.

So of course, the first person she runs into is AJ, a sexy shifter with a few secrets of his own. Liked him from the jump even though I knew he was full of crap. And we find out pretty quickly just how full of crap he is. Still loved him. The banter between him and Andie is pretty awesome and the chemistry between them is apparent from the first shared look. It really heats up with AJ puts Andie through the "trials", which are basically a bunch of tests she must pass if she wants to stay with the Keller dare. AJ was so sure he would break Andie and she would show how weak she really is. Yeah, didn't happen! Andie showed AJ what a boss is and kicked that trial's ass! Loved this girl. For real.

I really liked how even though the romance was at the front of the plot, Andie never took her eye off of the prize. She never got all wrapped up in AJ that she forgot about the danger that still lurked out there or forgot about the friends and family she left back in her old dare who were probably suffering because she had run away. It's so easy to forget pain when you're so happy, but I'm glad Abigail wouldn't let our characters veer too far off course.

There wasn't a lot of action in this book, but there was some. I did expect a bit more of the bow-chica-wow-wow in this book. So I was a bit disappointed with that even though overall, the romance was awesome. At times it was a bit cheesy. Perfect happiness is always a bit cheesy to me, so that's really what kept it from being five stars. I don't need a HEA like some readers and I don't necessarily feel that marriage is the only way to achieve an HEA. But that's neither here nor there. Still had a great time reading this book and the well-developed characters with their vibrant and different personalities so rocked the storyline.

Would I recommend? Most def. If you're looking for a fast, sweet and satisfying read, then this is just the book for you!
