A dark tale of sex, violence...and love. LUST FOR LIFE by Seanpaul Thomas

Set in modern day Edinburgh, an average everyday working man in his mid-thirties is given the devastating news that he has terminal Brain Cancer. Refusing any kind of help or Chemo, he struggles with overbearing thoughts on becoming a better person and giving into his natural urges, social fears and sexual desires to do and act however the hell he pleases. No longer wishing to obey the rules and regulations of monotonous everyday life. Now our hero yearns to know what it's like to live a life without regret and consequences while his mind is still a healthy functioning one. The story unfolds with a slow burning tension as our hero eventually turns his back on modern day society and begins using his terminal illness as a license to act out his biggest dreams and fantasies. Good and bad. While also squaring up to a couple of long time buried, but not forgotten, demons from his past. But when he finds love along the way even that comes with a heavy price.

EXCERPT
As we walked around the Cathedral in a buoyant mood we were soon playfully teasing each other like young children in a school playground who had crushes on each other. I made fun of Celine's very polite, innocent and sweet English/French accent and mimicked the English words which she overly or under pronounced. To get back at me Celine refused to speak English for five minutes and jabbered away in French. So I mimicked this right back at her with my own outrageous French accent straight out of an old Monty Python movie. Which in all fairness came out like utter gibberish, until she laughed so hard at my overly dramatic gestures and facial expressions, begging me to stop.

I offered to give her a piggy back which she was reluctant to accept at first. But when she finally clambered on board, I galloped around Parliament square with her on my back like a demented pony to the bemused looks of the late night tourists and drunkard passers by. After a few minutes of this gallivanting, I halted on top of the Cathedral steps. Slowly placed my head between my legs and gently tipped her over my back, lowering her upside down, to her playful screams onto the pavement below. She laughed so hard that she struggled to get back up onto her feet again. When she finally did she playfully hit me after I told her she was too cheeky to get a proper piggy back. Then when I turned to walk away, she pinched my bum and handed me my phone. I had to laugh. I hadn't even felt her take it from my pocket. I told her she was both very sneaky and cheeky.

'I'm the cheeky, sneaky one?' She smiled.

I chuckled, as a crazy thought entered my head.

'Do you know the difference between sneaky and cheeky?' I asked. Remembering an old friend of mine who had told me a few years back about this sneaky/cheeky line he sometimes used on girls to get a first kiss. I hadn't spoken to him in over a year. Last I heard he'd met some girl on a plane and they were now all loved up together, living in Spain or France I think.

'I... I don't believe I do.' She said with a teasing look.

'You're the English teacher and you honestly don't know?'

'Well, I know sneaky... Is that to be devious or to sneak up on someone with naughty intentions?'

A mischievous thought of demonstration rattled around inside my head as I desperately tried to remember what my friend had told me. Like a light-bulb going off inside my mind I remembered. I had to show her the difference, and thus acted without hesitation. I immediately held out my hand for her to take.

'What? What are you doing?'

Celine took my hand and I pulled her close. Only a few inches separated us.

'Okay. Now close your eyes.'

She gave me a suspicious glare and grinned.

'No, I don't trust you. You might do something bad.'

'What? Like steel your phone?'

'Hmmm, that too.' She giggled.

'Just close your eyes.'

'What are you going to do?'

'I'm going to show you the difference between cheeky and sneaky.'

She paused in thought with an even more devilish grin before finally closing her eyes.

'Okay. So this... is... cheeky.'

She looked so angelic in that moment when I leaned in towards her, like I were about to kiss her gently upon her soft and luscious red lips. She smelled absolutely divine and so freshly sweet like an aura of deliciousness. Instead of kissing her though, I lowered my hands over her curvaceous bum cheeks, squeezing them. She let out a playful grin and opened her eyes.

'That was bad.' She giggled. Yet never backing away from me the whole time.

'Okay' I smiled back. 'And now for something completely sneaky.'

'So that wasn't the sneaky part?'

'Close your eyes again.'

She did what I asked and closed her eyes tight.

'Okay, now this... is... sneaky.'

This time I leaned in real slow. Right up close, until our faces and lips were millimetres apart. At the same time I lifted my left hand and gently cupped it around the bottom of her cheek and throat, underneath her soft flowing dirty blonde hair. Softly I kissed her red cherry lips. She never flinched in the slightest and even better, her small pretty delicate mouth moved in unison with mine. The kiss lasted for a few long warm heartbeats. Then just as I felt the tip of her tongue brushing against the roof of my lip, I pulled away and opened my eyes to find hers still closed. She opened them and unleashed a radiant, yet devilish, beaming smile right at me. Lost in the beautiful moment I'd forgotten all about my ferocious viagra infused hard-on still throbbing away, tucked in tight against the belt of my jeans.
'Well that was... unexpected.'

Born in London to Scottish and Irish parents, Sean spent most of his childhood and teenage years growing up on the move in the likes of Cyprus, Germany, Wales and England as an army brat. With a keen interest in both reading and writing he was diagnosed with the travel and writing bugs very early on in life. Now, writing, reading and traveling are his main passions in life, but he also loves outdoor sports too from Rugby and Hiking to Tennis and Boxing. His main inspiration for writing today comes from living in such a beautiful, Gothic and hauntingly, awe inspiring city such as Edinburgh. This charming wee city has given Sean so much amazing inspiration to write the more time he spends there.

At this moment Sean is writing another two books, one is a sequel to his science fiction novel Alone. The other is about an alcoholic man down on his luck and still dwelling over past tragedies. Who, after a failed suicide attempt, falls for a single mother with an even darker and secretive tragic past than his own.
